A new era of skiing in Arlberg

We are pleased to report that work is well underway for the exciting new lift project that will enhance skiing in Arlberg, and benefit guests coming to stay in our luxury properties in St. Anton and Lech this coming winter.

After many years of negotiations between the Austrian ski resorts of St. Anton and Lech, building has finally commenced, this summer, on a €45 million lift and piste project linking the two resorts. The project features four brand new lifts including the Flexenbahn which will link the St. Anton and Lech ski areas making it the largest contiguous ski area in Austria.

We will see the new Trittkopfbahn 1 lift head up from Zürs leading to a new intermediate station, at which point skiers can continue up to the new Trittkopfbahn 2 station or take the new Flexenbahn lift to Alpe Rauz in Stuben where a fourth new lift, the Albonabahn 2 continues on to Stuben.

Skiers starting from Alpe Rauz can conveniently explore St. Christoph and St. Anton ski areas or head up the Flexenbahn over and into the Zurs area. All this means that St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zurs, and Lech Oberlech along with Warth and Schröcken will be comfortably accessible on skis or boards.

With all the improvements, skiers will have access to a total of 305km of downhill slopes and 87 lifts. It opens up a huge amount of terrain and there will be at least one new piste created with a return run descending nearly 600m.

As a result of the new lifts, Ski Arlberg has announced the opening of “The Run of Fame” which will be a 65km piste route allowing skiers and boarders to clock up 18,000m of vertical, all on perfectly groomed and linked pistes!

There are also plans afoot to launch an open-to-all race during the season to see who can cover the 65km in the quickest time.

The lift company says the entire Arlberg region will become easily accessible, making the Arlberg region the largest continuous skiing area in Austria!
