Skiing in Lech

With a long history of skiing, vast ski terrain and superb off piste, once you've visited Lech once you won't want to go anywhere else.

With the highest average snowfall of anywhere in the Alps, a world-renowned lift system, sophisticated hospitality, and a long tradition of skiing, Lech ski resort has been attracting families, free-riders and ski tourers globally for over a century. Offering a thousand metres of vertical skiing (between 1,450m and 2,450m above sea level) and with access to the rest of the Arlberg ski area with one lift pass, Lech combines well-groomed pistes with some of the finest off-piste and backcountry skiing in the Alps.

A long history of skiing

Lech is part of the Arlberg ski region – four different villages combining 305 km of pistes. The Arlberg region has a long history of skiing, with the first T-bar lift being installed in 1905. The area is well connected by a network of gondolas and lifts making it the largest connected ski resort in Austria and 5th largest in the world. Lech offers superb skiing, for all levels, with extensive terrain for intermediates as well as designated areas for beginners and gentle slopes for children. It’s dependable snow conditions also make it an ideal spot for powder days. Advanced skiers often head to nearby St Anton, which helps keep Lech’s pistes fresh and less ‘skied-out’.

Don’t miss the infamous – ‘Run of Fame’ a spectacular 85km ski circuit across the entire Arlberg resort, through St Anton, via Stuben, Zurs, Lech, and Shrocken to Warth and back – travelling 18,000m in altitude, following in the tracks of ski pioneers and movie stars. Ambitious skiers can complete the Run of Fame in one day, but those wanting to take it at a slower pace can enjoy lunch in one of Lech’s mountain restaurants and may want more time to complete the route.
