Events in Zermatt

Year-round, Zermatt events attract global visitors and offer something for everyone.

Music and sporting events

Signifying the closing of the winter season, the renowned Zermatt Unplugged acoustic music festival takes place every April. Attracting musicians from around the globe, the festival has 13 venues dotted throughout the village.

Every two years during the spring season, Zermatt is the starting point for the legendary Patrouille des Glaciers ski touring race. This is a formidable race which sees hundreds of participants make the daunting journey from Zermatt to Verbier on skis through the night.

A festive Summer in the Alps

Alpine culture is celebrated throughout the summer months, with daily musical performances from folk groups at the train station square throughout July and August. Festivals dedicated to age-old local traditions allow visitors a real insight into the heritage of the region, such as the Folklore festival, Stafelalp festival and of course Swiss National Day.

The mountains and classical music have an affinity and, during the month of September, the mountain air of Zermatt is filled with the sound of classical music from the Zermatt Music Festival. Bringing together musicians from across the globe to perform concerts and take part in workshops, all held in the breathtaking alpine surroundings.
