Located in the heart of Les Trois Vallees, Meribel’s ski area spans an impressive 150km, with a plethora of exhilarating ski runs catering to all levels. Beyond the main runs, there are quiet corners of this winter wonderland that remain relatively untouched by the crowds. We caught up with our Bramble Ski Pro, Gregory, to uncover some of Meribel’s best-kept secrets;
‘After a big downfall of snow, the run down to Raffort is a beautiful winding descent through the trees. On the Cheferie side, Choucas is a peaceful, wide-open run with plenty of rollercoaster ups and downs. For a more challenging ride, Gypaete is a brilliant red run that branches off from the Choucas piste.’
Another secret thrill is Combe Laitelet, a quiet and secret red run that leads you through the enchanting Mottaret trees before merging with the legendary Truite run to take you into the heart of Meribel La Chaudanne.
A snowy woodland stroll from Meribel Altiport to Le Clos Bernard is a brilliant way to spend an afternoon in the sunshine. The peaceful walk offers a magical escape into nature with its glistening snow, towering trees and a symphony of nature’s sounds. Cosy up to the outdoor fire pit with a warm vin chaud and soak in the serene woodland nature. For a touch of extra luxury, a horse-drawn carriage awaits, providing an alternative elegant and effortless way to enjoy the scenic route.
For a luxurious lunch in the sun, head to Lilie where you can enjoy a lunch menu ranging from lobster rolls and oysters, to Savoyard specialities. Fancy a touch of apres-ski, simply head across the road to the Rond Point for a lively après atmosphere. Apartment Nanuq, situated just a stone’s throw from both these places, offers the perfect chic alpine retreat to stay.
