The key to a stress-free holiday with children is planning, the week can slip by quickly. It is important to prioritise the activities you want to enjoy throughout the week, that’s where we come in. Our pre-arrival concierge teams are here to assist with this, weeks before you arrive. Both our pre-arrival concierge and in-resort teams have a wealth of knowledge and plenty of insider info to help tailor your stay to your family’s needs perfectly.
Ski holidays with children can often be hectic, so to ease some of the stress we’ve spoken to Sarina the owner of Petit Verbier who offer childcare and babysitting services for your holiday in Verbier. Also a mother to three young children, Sarina says ‘I know the ins and outs of ski holidays with children. Having run Petit Verbier for over 10 years and helped thousands of families enjoy their time here in Verbier and beyond.’
We asked Sarina for her top recommendations for a successful family ski holiday.
‘Your accommodation is such a big part of your holiday, especially when travelling as a family. Finding a family-friendly chalet gives children a space of their own, whether it’s for naptime, a play space or somewhere to wind down at the end of the day.’ A chalet is the perfect base for your family ski holiday – many of our chalets have dedicated cinema rooms or a snug, perfect for children to snuggle up and watch a film whilst the adults entertain.

Sarina notes – ‘It can be tough for little legs to walk through the deep snow and children will be tired before ski school if they have to walk in their ski boots.’ With the Bramble Ski Alpine Luxe package, a dedicated driver service (between 8am and 1am) is included. This means your mornings can run seamlessly with the convenience of a driver able to drop children off for morning lessons and collect you in the afternoon, meaning you can maximise your time unwinding in the hot tub or booking in a masseuse to squeeze in some ‘me’ time.
In addition to the driver service, when you book our catered service a chef is included, a huge benefit for family holidays, taking the stress out of planning three meals a day. With your dedicated pre-arrivals concierge, you can liaise with the chef to design a menu suited to the children’s tastes, with a dedicated early dinner for children designed so you can get the children to bed and then sit down with the adults and enjoy your own dinner a little later.
Sarina recommends – ‘hiring a professional nanny or babysitter who knows the ins and outs of the resort this can make all the difference. Petit Verbier’s experienced nannies are specially trained to care for children in alpine environments, from snow play, sledging to cosy storytimes inside. Whether you’re enjoying a full day of skiing or indulging in some après-ski relaxation, knowing your children are in good hands allows you to truly unwind. Our nannies look after children of all ages and are here to make sure that the children are having as much fun as the parents are on the mountain!
Nannies can be booked for full days, half days or evenings, we can cover everything from ski school pick-ups to bedtime stories whilst you enjoy one of Verbier’s many restaurants. Remember it’s your holiday too!’ Our pre-arrivals team would be delighted to organise any childcare requests you have with Petit Verbier for your stay in Verbier, please let them know your requirements.
In our other resorts we work with trusted childcare companies local to the resort – speak to your dedicated pre-arrivals manager if you’d like any more information and they’d be happy to arrange it, to enjoy the perfect family ski holiday.
‘Dressing your children appropriately is crucial for both comfort and safety. Layering is key, as the weather in the mountains can change quickly. Make sure children have waterproof outer layers, thermal base layers, and proper snow boots, gloves or mittens, and hats. You’ll be able to rent ski helmets but you’ll need to bring goggles, and don’t forget sunglasses for the non-skiers and babies- it gets seriously bright out there on a bluebird day!’
Save yourself from bringing half your baby equipment from home to the mountains, Petit Verbier offers equipment rental – everything from sterilisers to mountain pushchairs can be delivered and set up in your chalet before you arrive, making the transition from home to mountains as seamless as possible. Our teams work seamlessly with our in-resort partners to ensure all your requested childcare equipment is in the property, ready for your arrival.
